Nog meer Wij-bos

Op 6 maart plantten Somuadina  uit Nigeria,  Asal uit Iran, Lilas uit Syrië, Daniëlla uit Oeganda, Sophia uit Thailand samen met New Rootz-begeleider Ngugi uit Kenia 6 bomen en een struik in het Wij-bos.

New Rootz werkt aan een samenleving waarin alle jongeren dezelfde kansen krijgen en steunt jonge vluchtelingen en migranten uit verschillende landen en culturele achtergronden. Het Wij-bos is dé plaats om samen te komen en elkaar te ontmoeten.

Het Wij-bos groeit nog diverser nu een hazelaar, olijfwilg, vuilboom, aronia, boswilg, boerenjasmijn en een vlinderstruik zijn geplant.
Ravi uit Zuid-India  is cameraman en legde de activiteiten vast: niet alleen het planten maar ook de voordrachten die werden gehouden.

Somuadina Ikeotuonye droeg een gedicht voor.

Nature is changing, as seeds embed their roots in the ground and grow    into trees
Their roots strong, their stalks steady
Preparing for winds that might carry away the fruits
Sunlight that might destroy the soil and evaporate the water
Snow in months so strange that bees are a rare sight

Rains that damage the earth poisoning it with foreign substance

The trees weep in memory of the days when the winds kept the trees cool

The sunlight was the trees food source
In the snow squirrels would huddle in the cracks and crevices of the tree for warmth
And the rain would quench the trees thirst allowing it's leaves to be a vibrant green color
Nature is changing
